Kelvinox VT

The KelvinoxJT is a small, dipstick-style, dilution refrigerator which features a Joule-Thomson condensation stageKelvinoxJT dip-stick dilution refrigerator meaning the KelvinoxJT can operate in any 4 K environment – wet or dry – as it does not rely on a 1 K pot. KelvinoxJT is ideal for neutron or X-ray scattering experiments because there is no liquid helium in the sample horizontal plane.The refrigerator is compatible with our Cryofree TeslatronPT, our wet Integra magnet systems, any liquid helium transport dewar or any VTI with a sample tube diameter of at least 50 mm.

  • Can operate in any liquid helium environment, any dry 4 K (exchange gas) environment or in any 50 mm VTI
  • Quick cool-down time: typically 6 hours from room temperature to base
  • 20 µW of cooling power at 100 mK
  • Base temperature in 4 K (exchange gas or liquid helium) environment: 40 mK
  • Base temperature in a VTI: 25 mK
  • Experimental space: inner diameter 43 mm x length 180 mm
  • Inner vacuum chamber (IVC) with automatic exchange gas control
  • The IVC is sealed using vacuum grease of caff paste (no Indium is required)
  • Wide temperature range: when operated in a VTI the temperature can be controlled between 25 mK and 300 K
  • One spare 6 mm line-of sight port for installing experimental wiring

  • Automatic gas handling system with pneumatically operated valves
  • Automatic software routines including auto-condense, mixture removal and temperature control
  • Rack mounted, oil-free pumps
  • System computer with pre-installed control software
  • Pressure gauges for gas control
  • Gas tank with optimized 3He/4He mixture
  • Lakeshore thermometry read-out and temperature control electronics
  • Generically calibrated Ruthenium oxide (RuO2) sensors on the mixing chamber and on the still (fully calibrated sensors available on request)
  • Fully calibrated Cernox sensor at 4 K
  • Remote command interface through TCP/IP
  • Cold trap in liquid nitrogen dewar
  • All interconnecting lines
  • IVC sorb heater
